Rita Felski – Open Reception and Book Signing

-

Location: Eck Visitors Center Lobby

On January 29, the English department will be hosting a visit by the leading critical theorist Rita Felski, who is William R. Kenan, Jr., Professor of English at the University of Virginia and the editor of New Literary History.  Felski has done influential work in feminist theory and genre theory, and her recent work has shaped an emerging area sometimes described as "post-critique."  The occasion for her visit is the appearance of her long-awaited book The Limits of Critique, which  recently appeared with the University of Chicago Press

There will be an open reception and book signing with Felski on Friday, January 29 in the Eck Center lobby from 2-3:30.  She'll talk about her new book, which will be available for purchase, as will some of her older work, notably The Uses of Literature and Literature after Feminism.

Mark your calendars!  The Limits of Critique is already the most talked-about work of critical theory in years.
