Women's Week 2018

(part of a series)

Location: University of Notre Dame

Nevertheless She Persisted

Women’s Week is a series of events on which Shades of Ebony have collaborated with the Gender Relations Center since the Spring of 2013. Our collaboration began in honor of the 40th anniversary of coeducation at Notre Dame. Since then, Women’s Week has become an annual event, and both Shades and the GRC are looking forward to its growth both this year and in the future. Women’s Week 2018 will take place from March 19th through March 23rd.

This year’s theme is “Nevertheless She Persisted: Honoring Women Who Fight all Forms of Discrimination Against Women” and the events are as follows:

• Monday, March 19th: Passive Event

◦ A day of outreach and sharing in fellowship with the women of Notre Dame. We plan to celebrate the start of this important week with reflection and dialogue around the impactful women in our lives and around our campus.

• Tuesday, March 20th:Day of Service

◦ On this day, we plan to make a difference in the lives of women who have persisted through service and charity.

• Wednesday, March 21st: 4th Annual Cafemme

◦ This event will bring together different multicultural groups on campus for a night of poetry, music, dance, and other performances.  The event will be free, but donations of toiletries will be accepted in support of  St. Margaret’s House.

• Thursday, March 22nd: 6th Annual Celebration of Women Dinner

◦ The main event of the week will take place on Thursday night and will be a dinner at the Danke Ballroom from 5 to 9 pm, featuring guest speakers who will share about their experiences in corporate business.  RSVP only. Hosted by the Gender Relations Center.

• Friday, March 23rd: Bible Study

◦ On this day, we plan to reflect on the lessons of the week and the women in our lives through prayer and fellowship.
