Andrés Montoya, the late Chicano poet from Fresno, CA, was the author of two books and the winner of several prizes. A biennial award established in 2004 in his memory, the Andrés Montoya Poetry Prize is a partnership between Notre Dame Press and the Institute for Latino Studies that supports the publication of a first book by a Latinx poet in the United States. This Latinx Poetry session gathers the four most recent winners of the Prize, who will discuss how the Prize has impacted their literary trajectories. They will also read from their work and reflect on current trends in Latinx poetry. The session will be introduced and moderated by Francisco Aragón, ILS faculty member and director of Letras Latinas.

This is a hybrid event. Those unable to attend in person can register to attend via Zoom HERE.
