Director Jennifer Reeder scheduled to appear live!

While now directing feature films, filmmaker/scholar/professor Jennifer Reeder not only cut her teeth on but leaned into the short film form. Reeder will be in conversation with Max Kade Visiting Professor Skadi Loist to discuss how Reeder's past short films and film festivals continue to influence her filmmaking. Recently named by Bong Joon Ho as a filmmaker to watch, Reeder constructs personal fiction films about relationships, trauma, and coping. Her award-winning narratives are innovative and borrow from a range of forms including after school specials, amateur music videos and magical realism. These films have shown consistently around the world, including the Sundance Film Festival, The Berlin Film Festival, The Tribeca Film Festival, The Rotterdam Film Festival, The London Film Festival, SXSW, The Venice Biennale, and The Whitney Biennial.

Free for ND, SMC, HC, and IUSB Students.

Sponsored by the Meg and John P. Brogan Endowment for Classic Cinema, Department of German, Slavic and Eurasian Studies, Department of Film, Television, and Theatre, and Notre Dame Gender Studies program.
