Critical Feminist Justpeace: Intersectional Analysis of Women's Peacebuilding in Northeastern India

-

Location: Hesburgh Center for International Studies, C103

The UN's Women, Peace, and Security agenda has helped women make great strides in some areas, but goals like women's participation and gender mainstreaming fall far short of ending intersectional forms of oppression. In this study of women's interethnic peacebuilding in Manipur, India, Karie Riddle uses critical feminist methodology to uncover multiple sources of harm and to propose goals and processes for a contextually sensitive and intersectional justpeace. Riddle is a 2017 Ph.D. peace studies and political science graduate from the University of Notre Dame.

Today’s event is part of the Kroc Institute’s series on intersectionality and justice led by Ashley Bohrer, assistant professor of gender and peace studies. The series features a variety of guest presenters and illustrates how peacebuilding in its many forms contributes to the strength and value of intersectionality and justice as an analytical tool and concept.

Speakers/Panelists:

  • Karie Riddle, associate professor of political science, Pepperdine University

  • Ashley Bohrer (moderator)
