Evelyn Welch is Professor of Renaissance Studies and Academic Dean for Arts at Queen Mary, University of London. She is the author of Art and Authority in Renaissance Milan (New Haven and London, 1995); Art and Society in Italy, 1350-1500 ( Oxford, 1997); and Shopping in the Renaissance. Consumer Cultures in Italy, 1350-1600, New Haven and London, 2005); and co-editor of The Material Renaissance (Manchester and New York, 2007).
