The Challenges of Conducting Fieldwork through a Gender Lens

Mon Apr 9, 2018 4:30PM - 5:30PM

You are invited to attend a panel discussion on "The Challenges of Conducting Fieldwork through a Gender Lens", with women academics who have ample experience conducting fieldwork. Some of the questions to be discussed include: what are some of the aspects that women need to consider when planning on conducting fieldwork? what are some of the ethical challenges in conducting fieldwork? do those vary between men and women researchers? how do security concerns vary when we consider the researcher’s gender?

Panelists will present their perspectives followed by interventions from the audience. If you are considering conducting fieldwork or participating in a research abroad program, or if you have conducted fieldwork and would like to share your experience please make sure to mark your calendar.

Moderators: Profs. Jaimie Bleck (political science) and Catherine Bolten (anthropology and peace studies)

Date: April 9, at 4:30 pm, Hesburgh Center C-103, reception to follow.
