2018 Graduate Writing Award

The G. Margaret Porter Gender Studies Graduate Writing Prize ($150) is awarded to the best essay by a Gender Studies Graduate Minor student written in the calendar year (January to December).  This prize is named in honor of G. Margaret Porter, Gender Studies Librarian at the Hesburgh Library who enabled high-caliber research in gender by ensuring that students and faculty have access to the best resources in Gender Studies.  Submissions can be essays written for a class, or papers presented at conferences.  Dissertation chapters and sections of MA theses are not eligible.  Only graduate students enrolled in the Gender Studies Minor may apply. …

The Gender Studies Program sends warm congratulations to Professor Sarah McKibben, in Irish Language and Literature, who has just received a prestigious fellowship from the American Council of Learned Societies.  This fellowship will fund Prof. McKibben’s work on her new project, Tradition Transformed: Bardic Poetry and Patronage in Early Modern Ireland, c.1560-1660.

Through Gendered Lenses– An Undergraduate Academic Journal in Gender Research and Scholarship

Through Gendered Lenses is an academic journal published by Triota, the Gender Studies Honor Society, created to foster research in the broad field of Gender Studies and to highlight excellent gender-related work being done by undergraduate students across the university. We welcome submissions from all disciplines. Submissions must focus on topics related to gender, including but not limited to sexuality, religion, politics, the family, media, health, economics, culture, and violence.  Paper submissions are due on Monday, February 5 by 5:00 PM
