“Women's Role in Government: A Comparative Analysis between the US and UK”
As a political science and gender studies major I have always been interested in exploring the intersection of women and political life, particularly the gender gap in American elections. In this research project, I will explore women’s leadership roles in American and British national politics, specifically analyzing the effects of the structural differences between the two nations and whether this has given the United Kingdom more success in recruiting and retaining high-level female politicians. I will focus on the social and cultural barriers that women encounter in the United States as well as the legal and structural opportunities available in the United Kingdom.
