Mary Ellen Konieczny

Mary Ellen Konieczny is an Assistant Professor in Sociology and Faculty Fellow of the Center for the Study of Religion and Society. Her research interests revolve around the broad themes of religion and gender, religion and family life, and religion in American democracy. Professor Konieczny’s current work includes transforming her dissertation study, an ethnography of liberal and conservative Catholic parishes, into a book tentatively entitled, The Spirit’s Tether: Family, Work and Religion among American Catholics. She is also the Principal Investigator for a research project entitled Marriage and Divorce, Conflict and Faith in which she examines how congregations deal with domestic violence and other forms of conflict.
