Graduation year:

Political Science and Peace Studies/Gender Studies

On the recommendation of a friend, I took Introduction to Gender Studies during the second semester of my freshman year, and it was one of the best academic decisions I have made at Notre Dame. Most of my favorite classes have been Gender Studies, and I often use those theories and perspectives in my other academic pursuits. Gender Studies offers a valuable dimension to study other areas and examine the systems within your own life. I was inspired to participate in other gender-related groups on campus, including the Triota Honor Society and the Gender Relations Center. I have also conducted independent research in the Netherlands and Italy, and my Gender Studies background enabled me to be more comprehensive in my work.  The department is also a wonderful community with individualized attention and insightful classmates, which significantly added to my invaluable experience.
