This reading memorializes Ernest Sandeen, a longtime Notre Dame English professor and poet who was beloved for his mentorship of students over several decades. In honor of Sandeen’s scholarly and aesthetic achievements and exemplary mentorship, the Sandeen Memorial Reading features a major poet reading alongside a younger poet of her own choosing. Claudia Rankine has selected the poet Solmaz Sharif to read alongside her on the evening of January 26.
