Majors/Minors: Political Science & Gender Studies majors, Latin American Studies minor
Being a Gender Studies Major has helped my understanding and analysis of why women's roles are what they are in Latin American Politics. I have been able to apply the theories to my studies on the judicial systems and democratic institutions. Looking for internships back home, potential employers would look at my Gender Studies major as something that set me apart form the rest of the applicants because it is a rare concentration to have. Being able to understand the importance of gender roles in society is a plus when you are looking at jobs in NGO's. The favorite part of being a Gender Studies Major is having the opportunity to really get to know some of the people in the major and become involved in the department.
