My Gender Studies major has played a transformative role in my time at Notre Dame. Most significantly, I have taken advantage of numerous opportunities to expand my Gender Studies education beyond the classroom. The Gender Studies program has enabled me to turn my academic interest in transnational women's issues to real world experiences. I spent a summer in India interning for the Foundation for Sustainable Development at a school for girls outside of Jaipur and another summer in Ghana conducting independent research on women's experiences with empowerment. My Gender Studies major has equipped me with a powerful lens with which I will continue to explore the world, even after my time at Notre Dame is over.
