Gender Studies offers students a primary major, supplementary major and a minor. In the primary major and supplementary major, students choose a concentration in Arts and Culture, Religion and Family, or Gender and Society. These concentrations allow students to focus their study of Gender to prepare them for their senior capstone project - Senior Thesis, Senior Seminar or Capstone Essay.
Primary Major - 10 courses, 30 credit hours
- Must take 2 required courses: Introduction to Gender Studies and Perspectives on Gender: Theory and Practice
- Must complete 1 senior capstone project in student’s area of concentration: Senior Seminar or Senior Thesis

Seven (7) electives:
- Must take at least 4 courses in one of the following concentrations: Arts and Culture, or Religion and Family, or Gender and Society
- At least 2 courses must be at 40000 level or higher
- At least 1 course must fulfill diversity requirement (GSDI attribute)
Supplementary Major - 8 courses, 24 credit hours
- Must take 2 required courses: Introduction to Gender Studies and Perspectives on Gender: Theory and Practice
- Must complete 1 senior capstone project in student’s area of concentration: Senior Seminar or Capstone Essay
