Majors/Minors: American Studies Major, Gender Studies & Business Economics Minors
During my first semester at Notre Dame, I took Introduction to Gender Studies with Professor Abigail Palko. I learned so many new and intriguing concepts that I never had the opportunity to learn about in high school. As I continued on in my academic journey at ND, I realized that many of these concepts overlapped into my American Studies major. I realized that the American Studies major/Gender Studies minor pair fit perfectly because I have the opportunity to explore how gender is expressed, institutionalized, and celebrated in America. I am so grateful that I chose to pursue the Gender Studies minor because the classes have helped me develop my critical thinking skills, construct a solid argument, and reflect upon how the issues surrounding gender affect my own life. I will be attending law school in the fall, and I know that the Gender Studies Department at Notre Dame will allow me to look at the study of law and politics through a gendered lens.
