As a freshman, I got placed in a class called Gender & Sexuality in Pop Media to fulfill my fine arts requirement. This class showed me how pervasive gender is in the media all around us. In short, this class showed me that gender is EVERYWHERE and EVERYONE comes in contact with it an infinite amount of times each day. Regardless of what your major, your career, your sexual orientation, your political affiliation, or your religion is, you can't escape gender. The inescapability of gender made me want to be a Gender Studies major.
