Position Description:
The Gender Studies Program at the University of Notre Dame invites applications for a one-year postdoctoral fellowship in Gender Studies to begin August 2019. The successful candidate will teach one course per semester (two courses total) and will be expected to pursue a program of independent research and participate in the scholarly life of the faculty. The fellowship stipend is $40,000 plus benefits and a $2,000 research and travel budget. Area of concentration is open; however, the Program has identified the intersectional study of sexualities, masculinities, transnational and U.S.-multiracial feminisms, and trans studies as core areas for growth. Applicants must be fluent in gender/feminist theory and methodologies and prepared to teach an undergraduate elective course in one or more of the areas listed above. Evidence of scholarly achievement and successful teaching experience is essential.
Housed in Notre Dame’s College of Arts & Letters, the Gender Studies Program is a vibrant interdisciplinary community of students and scholars that offers an undergraduate major and minor and a graduate minor. In addition to its degree programs, Gender Studies sponsors a wide array of campus and community programming, including graduate student and faculty research workshops, a book club, a film series, a journal of undergraduate research, a biennial undergraduate research conference, and a biennial faculty and graduate student conference.
Qualifications:
Applications are welcome from scholars who hold a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in Gender / Women’s / Sexuality Studies, received after September 1, 2014.
