Kasey Buckles is the Brian and Jeannelle Brady Professor in the Department of Economics. She is an affiliate of the Lab for Economic Opportunities, the Poverty Studies Interdisciplinary Minor and the Center for Children and Families. She has previously served on the Steering Committee of the Gender Studies Program. Buckles’ research interests are in the area of the economics of the family, including work on marriage and fertility decisions. She has recently published on the role of marriage in improving infant health outcomes and on the effects of public policy on adoptions of children in foster care. She has also explored the timing of fertility within the year, within the business cycle, and across women’s careers. Her work has been funded by the National Science Foundation, the National Institutes of Health, and the Russell Sage Foundation. She is a co-editor at the Journal of Policy Analysis and Management, and is a research associate with the Institute for Labor Economics and the National Bureau of Economic Research.
